The Berry God and the Skull Queen

She drew a berry god
into her pink cavern mouth,
pressed him helpless against
the white walls of her teeth,
and made him spill out
his juice
across her tongue,
into her throat,
sweet tang sweet.

Her eyes at half mast
little-death lidded in
savor mourning,
sly Kali smile.
She pulled his brother
from the vine
and enveloped
him, too.
