Pennies and Dimes

A coin purse slips out
of a young girl’s hand.

Bright pennies and shiny dimes
jingle off in every direction,
and for a frantic moment,
strangers remember to be people,
the young ones chasing after,
the old laughing at the fun.

Everyone helps gather them up.
