Jars of Glass
This one contains pieces of
a green beer bottle
broken against a brick wall
three inches from your head
by a depressed & lonely man
with too much to drink and
not a thing to do but rage
This one contains shards of
a tinted windshield
that shattered against your
skull and the only thing to
keep you from going through
was the seat belt you were
not wearing caught your arm
This one contains seventeen
sharp syringes once
plugged into your arteries
to deliver bright chemicals
intended to stimulate your
failing heart and remind it
to continue pumping blood
a green beer bottle
broken against a brick wall
three inches from your head
by a depressed & lonely man
with too much to drink and
not a thing to do but rage
This one contains shards of
a tinted windshield
that shattered against your
skull and the only thing to
keep you from going through
was the seat belt you were
not wearing caught your arm
This one contains seventeen
sharp syringes once
plugged into your arteries
to deliver bright chemicals
intended to stimulate your
failing heart and remind it
to continue pumping blood
